【Records Still Await】Bayern Munich Clinch 35th Bundesliga Title with 4 Rounds to Spare!

Last night and into the early hours of this morning, the cheers at the Allianz Arena never ceased! Bayern Munich defeated Stuttgart 4-2 at home, mathematically clinching the 35th Bundesliga title in club history. Following title rivals Borussia Dortmund’s defeat on Saturday, Bayern actually only needed a draw to secure the shield. However, Vincent Kompany’s side chose to cap off their 13th league title in 14 years with a dominant comeback victory!

In the first half, Bilal El Khannouss assisted Chris Führich for the opener, but Jamal Musiala soon set up Raphaël Guerreiro for the equaliser. Nicolas Jackson then found the net following a cross from Luis Díaz, and Alphonso Davies added another goal, again assisted by Díaz, leaving Bayern 3-1 up at the break. In the second half, Harry Kane scored after coming off the bench, and while Chema netted a "wonder goal" for the visitors, the match ended 4-2. With 79 points, Bayern have officially secured the league title with four matches remaining!

The Record Breakers: The Most Powerful Offence in History?

Bayern has displayed suffocating dominance in the final third this season. The 6-0 thrashing of RB Leipzig at the start of the campaign seemingly set the tone for the year. To date, Bayern has hammered in 109 league goals, shattering the all-time Bundesliga record (notably, only the Bayern squads of 1971/72 and 2019/20 had previously surpassed the 100-goal mark). With four games still to play, this record is poised to reach even greater heights!

The attacking trident composed of Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and summer signing Luis Díaz has been a nightmare for Bundesliga defences, with the trio combining for 59 goals. Meanwhile, the defence has remained rock-solid, conceding only 29 goals so far. If Bayern wins their remaining matches, they will equal the single-season record of 91 points set by Jupp Heynckes in 2013.

King Kane: Is the Ballon d'Or Within Reach?

Once upon a time, Kane’s move to Germany was haunted by talk of a "trophy curse". Today, he has not only helped Bayern retain the league title but has also become the top scorer in Europe’s top five leagues, racking up 32 goals in 27 Bundesliga appearances and 50 goals across all competitions.

Kane has been equally spectacular on the European stage. After scoring in both legs of the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid, he equalled Frank Lampard’s record for the most goals scored by an English player in the UCL knockout stages (15 goals) and led the team back to the semi-finals for the first time in two years. Kane previously admitted that if he lifts the Champions League trophy and performs well in this summer's World Cup, he has a very strong chance of becoming the first Englishman since Michael Owen in 2001 to win the Ballon d'Or.

Kompany’s Evolution: Eyes on the Treble!

During Kompany’s first year in charge last season, there were external doubts. However, Kane stated that after 12 months of working together, the team has fully absorbed Kompany’s tactical philosophy and has become even more formidable than last year.

The league title is just the beginning; Bayern’s ultimate goal is a third "Treble" in club history (following 2013 and 2020). Currently, they have reached the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal (against Bayer Leverkusen) and the semi-finals of the Champions League (against Paris Saint-Germain). If they achieve this feat, Bayern Munich will become the first men’s club in European football history to win the Treble three times.
